The comet moth or fairy moon moth is a lunar moth and one of he largest moths in the world, native to Madagascar. The moth isn’t a record breaker for sheer wingspan like the atlas but instead it’s long tails. it’s where it gets the name comet moth from because it looks like a streaking comet as it flies. it’s a bright yellow moth with large orange eye spots on its wings.
Here it’s likeness is made in brass with touches of gold, resin and translucent yellow circuit board. The wings filigree is filled with resin. The eye spots a pale amber with trapped insects. The tails tip is a reverse set carved cut citrine. the chain and clasp is all sterling with cut crystal.
